The mayor of Qom announced Qom city management’s readiness to welcome the transfer of technology and capital in the field of waste management.
Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad made the remarks in a meeting with the Finnish envoy which was held in the building of the municipality on Wednesday,
Qom is one of the most important and historical cities in the country and has many capacities that can be planned for, the mayor said.
ُHe touched upon the existence of the largest seminary of the country in Qom, adding that “There are large research centers and universities in Qom, each of which is considered a very good capacity.”
Considering the city’s closeness to the capital as a privilege, he said that Qom is also an industrial city with enthusiastic people who are interested in playing a role in the development of the country.
The capacities that exist in the two countries have created a very good field for cooperation, but unfortunately, we have not used this capacity well and fully so far, he said referring to the old relationship between Iran and Finland.
Qom has been selected as a smart city pilot in the country and new information technologies are being implemented in Qom, which can be one of the areas of cooperation of this city with different countries, Saghaiannejad added.
He considered waste management as another capacity of cooperation between Qom and Finland and said that one of the important issues in the country’s metropolises is waste management, which can be also a good ground for relations between Iran and Finland.
