The mayor of Qom has emphasized that the Parks and Green Space Organization of the municipality should prioritize creating the culture and increasing the citizens’ participation in the development of urban green space per capita.
Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaeiannejad made the remarks at the meeting of Qom Municipality’s Parks and Green Space Organization Council which was held on Thursday.
Developing urban green space per capita is of great importance for Qom Municipality since it is directly related to increasing the social vitality and improving the human living environment, Saghaeiannejad said.
Furthermore, he touched upon improving the productivity of the Parks and Green Space Organization, adding making people participate in increasing urban green space per capita can considerably contribute to this end.
Also speaking at the meeting, the director general of the Parks and Green Space Organization of Qom Municipality stated that the area of Qom urban green space has increased from 17 million and 800 thousand meters in 2015 to 26 million and 468 thousand meters in 2021.
With a per capita of 20.42 square meters of urban green space, Qom ranks third in the country after the cities of Isfahan and Shiraz, Payam Javadian further noted.
