Deputy of municipal services of Qom Municipality has announced that the dissertations of university students which deal with waste management will be supported.
Abbas Zakerian made the remarks attending the meeting of the waste management organization council which was held on Monday.
Waste management is one of the most essential issues of sustainable development, Zakerian said.
He also stressed that not paying enough attention to waste management will lead to the destruction of the environment and nature.
It is necessary to study the role of new technologies in recycling and segregating the urban waste with an emphasis on environmental aspects, the municipal official noted.
Furthermore, the deputy of municipal services of Qom Municipality called for the university students to carry out research that can be implemented.
He further highlighted the municipality’s support of the university students’ dissertations on waste management, reiterating that in order to achieve great goals in urban management, we need to introduce new and updated ideas and methods.
Coinciding with the national week of research and technology, the mayor of Qom, Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad had stated that in order for university education to be effective, university research should focus on society’s needs.
