The mayor of Qom has highlighted that the government should support the metro projects in the country’s metropolitans.
Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaeiannejad made the remarks in the meeting attended by Iran’s Interior Minister, Ahmad Vahidi, Qom’s representative in the Iranian parliament, Hojatoleslam Mojtaba Zulnouri, Managing Director of Urban Train Organization and other city managers.
Saghaeiannejad referred to the contract China’s CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Rail Transport signed with IDRO to supply metro cars for the Iranian cities of Isfahan, Tabriz and Shiraz, stressing that it is a great measure that should be pursued.
With the efforts of the members of the Iranian parliament, the Ministry of Interior and other officials, the city of Qom has also been added to the cities for which the metro cars are going to be supplied, he noted.
He also touched upon the procrastination of the Chinese company side to fulfill its obligations, saying that the government need to revive the contract.
Despite financial problems, extensive measures have been taken in the Qom metro project, so with the government’s cooperation, some of these measures can be achieved with two train rams, the mayor emphasized.
The Qom metro project began in 2011 with a tender of 8600 billion rials, which is the largest tender in the history of Qom.
