The mayor of Qom has appreciated firefighters’ efforts to stop the huge fire at Barak Paint Industrial Company on Ghadir Boulevard.
In a phone call with the director general of the Qom Municipality Fire and Safety Services Organization, Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad said we are proud of the sacrifices of firefighters to bring the fire under control.
“The municipality of Qom praises the firefighter’s endeavors to prevent fire from spreading to tanks containing incendiary materials that could have multiplied the severity of the disaster,” Saghaiannejad stated.
All the industries must be located outside the city, he stressed, adding the urban management had previously warned the paint factory, but its managers did not even allow municipal officials to enter the workshop.
A big fire broke out at Barak Paint Industrial Company, located in Ghadir Boulevard in the city of Qom on December 14, forcing the authorities to declare an emergency.
The spokesman of the Qom Municipality Fire and Safety Services Department said that over 70 firefighters and 20 machines along with the municiplaity’s water supplies were immediately deployed to extinguish the fire.
The operation has been very strenuous, but the firefighters managed to stop the fire from spreadingto tanks containing incendiary materials, Hamid Karimi added.
