Qom Municipality makes city ready for reopening of schools

Qom Municipality Director General of Coordination and Supervision of Urban Services says coinciding with the beginning of the new academic year, the municipality has taken measures in different areas.

The municipality has implemented various traffic, welfare and beautification programs to make the city ready for the reopening of schools, Seyyed Mohsen Mirhadi stated in an interview.

Mirhadi reiterated that the municipality has started to provide services since the past 20 days, adding in this regard, more than 150 schools in the city’s eight districts were cleaned, and improved in terms of appearance and urban landscape.

Painting school walls, washing student and pedestrian crossings to create a safe environment for students to move in front of schools, cleaning up vacant lots around schools and moving waste to a landfill are among some of the measures that have been taken by the municipality coinciding with the beginning of the new academic year, he also noted.

Moreover, the Mayor of Qom has offered his congratulation on the arrival of the new academic year to the students, and scholars across the country in a message released on Thursday.

Each year, Iranian students start the school year on September 23, which marks the first day of autumn on the Iranian calendar, while this year, in light of the pandemic, the school year will start a month later.
