Municipal official says 35 tons of compost produced daily in Qom

The head of the Waste Management Organization of Qom Municipality has announced that 35 tons of compost fertilizer are daily produced in the city of Qom.

Touching upon the waste management situation in Qom, Seyyed Abdullah Mirebrahimi said with the daily transfer of more than 600 tons of waste to Alborz Waste Processing Complex, 35 tons of compost fertilizer are produced.

Mirebrahimi stressed the reduction of waste collection in the city, reiterating that comparing to the past, 635 tons of waste is now collected daily in the city.

Currently, 49 recycling booths are active in the city to inform the people and convey them the concepts of waste management, he noted, adding that with the effective activities of the municipality and the support of citizens, waste reduction and separation from the source has been done efficiently.

He went on to say that the establishment of waste segregation infrastructure from the source and the development of fixed stations for dry waste collection are among the important approaches of the organization.

The municipal official reiterated that every night, 220 special car services collect wet waste and transport it to the Alborz site, expressing hope that all waste will be processed by the end of the year.

Emphasizing that about 330 tons of waste are separated by the first processing line and 300 tons are buried, he pointed out that the remaining can be processed and separated by launching the second line by year end.

Moreover, the head of the Waste Management Organization of Qom Municipality said that this 35 tons of fertilizer are of very high quality, while adding when the second line is launched, all the wastes of Qom can be processed and turned into high quality fertilizer.
