Compost fertilizer distributed in Qom’s recycling booths

The head of the Qom Municipality Waste Management Organization announced the distribution of compost fertilizer at recycling booths in the city, coincided with Natural Resources Week and Arbor Day.

Referring to the implementation of this plan during Natural Resources Week and Arbor Day, Seyyed Abdullah Mirebrahimi underlined that compost fertilizer packages in the size of 2 kg offered for consumption at trees and gardens in recycling booths.

Improving soil condition, increasing the level of absorption of nutrients, and supplying the nutrients needed by plants are among the goals of compost fertilizer production, the municipality official added.

Earlier this month, he had stated that 670 to 700 tons of waste are collected daily from the city, in which more than 50% of wet waste in Qom is turned into fertilizer, hen we have a total of 25 tons of quality fertilizer per day.

Mirebrahimi then noted that we are seeking to turn the remaining 330 tons of waste into compost and with the help of officials and the Environment Fund, to set up a second compost production center.

He reiterated that we hope that with the support of related organizations in the implementation of the second project, 15 billion Tomans of credit be provided and this project put into effect until the end of the next year.

In addition, he said that “waste incineration is one of the serious environmental problems and must be addressed. Currently, the use of rubber instead of fuel is also a serious challenge.
