Direct landfill of waste in Qom to be reached zero

Referring to the opening of the second waste processing line in Qom city, the CEO of Qom Municipality Waste Management Organization said that the direct burial of waste has reached zero with this project and environmental pollution will be removed as a result of the development of additional industries.

Seyed Abdollah Mirebrahimi made the comments referring to the opening of seven environmental and waste management projects.

One of the plans defined in the long-term goals of the waste management organization is to move towards zero landfill, he asserted.

He pointed to the opening of environmental projects on Tuesday, the 24th of January, and said that with the launch of these projects, direct disposal of waste will be reduced to zero in the Qom metropolis.

Out of 680 tons of production waste in Qom city, about 80 tons are separated from the source in the city and the rest are transferred to the Alborz site, he added.
