Qom mayor pens letter on occasion of Day of Municipalities

The mayor of Qom issued a message, honoring the National Day of Municipalities on July 5.

Accordingly, Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saqaiannejad write a message to commemorate the National Day of Municipalities on July 5.

The following is the full text of the letter:

Thinkers consider cities as living social organs which are considered an integral part of civilization in connection with other human settlements and they form a social, economic, cultural, etc. ecosystem.

Today, achieving good governance in cities requires synergy between four actors, namely the government, the public sector, the private sector and citizens.

Eliminating each of these actors in every stage of policy-making and decision-making means cutting off the life paths of the city as a living being,

Today, with more than 74% of the country’s population living in cities, the need to reconsider the requirements of “optimal governance” in cities has shown itself more than ever. Any policy, legislation and planning for the country will not be close to sustainable success without efforts to make local governance meaningful and decentralization.

The fifth of July which marks Municipalities Day is an opportunity to express the shortcomings of the macro view of city governance in the country, which has created obstacles in the path of the prosperity of the city economy, improving the quality of life and paying attention to the rights of citizens.

While honoring the memory of the martyrs of the municipalities and appreciating the services of all the employees, contractors, workers and the big family of Qom municipality, we hope for the coming of better days in bringing the municipalities to their true position.
